Philosophy
Laal thinks of itself as part of the great tradition of the progressive writers movement of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Habib Jalib and Ahmed Faraz. we consider it a great honous to have the opportunity to popularize the work of these great socialist writers by setting their revolutionary poetry to music. Our music is for the people although we have been performing for small gatherings for many years. Our most memorable performance was when we put loud speakers on a truck and performed a mobile concert for the May Day Workers' Rally. It is with these roots of popular culture and art for the people that we wish to begin our journey. for us Laal is a synthesis on the one hand of our own philosphical views and artistic sensibilities; and on the other, it represents a new continuity for a younger generation of thinkers, activists and artists that which to struggle for social justice. Given the escalating social, economic and political problems facing the working people of Pakistan. it seems only just to rethink, revive and reinvigorate those voices that stood steadfastly for the rights of the opressed. To all our listerners and fans & to the immortal memory of comrades Faiz, Jalib and Faraz Laal Salam!
